Balance Bar Bearing
CaptainJosh - 2/8/08 at 07:18 PM

I've bought a rally design balance bar setup and I am soon to be doing the brakes on my car.

I was wondering, should the bearing be able to move in the round tube in the brake pedal, or should it be a push fit?

I can't find an answer anywhere!

It has to be able to move when you adjust it, you want a nice close sliding fit.

So should it be greased or not? and should it move when in use?

Any ideas?

Hi

Yes, I've greased mine. In normal use the bearing does not move, (other than to rotate), it should however move along the tube when adjusted if you have retained the ability to adjust.

Yep, greased sliding fit.

You'll find the tube distorts when you weld it into a pedal, and it also does when rally design's supplier welds them in, plus they usually have some powder coat in there too.

Best bet is to borrow a suitable reamer and clean it out, or your brake balance will always be playing up.
