Started down the Locost route around 2 years ago....then started down the divorce route not long after! (not because of the buid I might add). I have now rekindled my interest and am starting in earnest. I have a good percentage of the stuff I need:

Chassis steel (most of it) - started some tacking
Nice set of 15" alloys
1.6 Sierra donk and 5-speed box
Capri rear axle and diff (I am going the 442 route)
Rear drums to suit
Cortina uprights and discs/calipers
Steering rack
Many other ancilliaries from Sierra donor

My question is, where would I be best getting new pads from for the front brakes. I know I'm a way off needing them but I guess they are only going to get rarer as time goes on.

Also, what's the best option for the propshaft? I have the old Sierra 2-piece but I know I've got to use a one-piece.

Lock yourself in the garage and get it done.....

The when you need bits like pads and props give Mac1 a ring they will sort what you need.

I don't think you'll have problems getting brake pads. Your local motor factors will have them or can get them. - loads on ebay very cheap.

Have a prop made for you by a specialist.

Blimey! You guys don't 'ang about!

I guess they're not as rare as I thought then.

My first thought with the prop was to cut off the UJ mounts from each end and get them onto a 16swg tube and checked/balanced by a proffesional.

Just as a side, Is it best to build or buy the suspension arms for the front?
