I've still not made my accelerator pedal but have plenty of ideas! I know that i definitely don't want top hung, or to have the cable/spring
protruding above the chassis as I've other ideas for the area between the chassis and the bodywork.
I've attached a couple of sketches for comments!
Rescued attachment floor mounted accelerator pedal.jpg
don't know how to attach multiple docs.
I'm confused by those first two!! Is that the pivot point at the bottom?? If so whats the bracket / bar at the top??
I bought a floor mounted one from MK Sportscars (for £10, in the back pocket!! ). Think they are normally about £18
the bracket at the top is to take the accelerator cable.
have you had a look at the accelerator pedal design in the haynes roadster book?
that looks like it would meet your requirements
no! not seen that!
Just from a point of view of practicaility, I think 2 looks best:
1 has the cable attachment plate interfering with the pedal and 3 has a tail that would surely hit the floor when you press the pedal?
Slightly O/T, what (in general) is the thinking behind floor mounted pedals rather than top hung? I have always found that top hung pedals feel better
because you can press them by pushing your whole leg rather than (at more extreme angles) pivoting your foot which can get quite tiring.
Well 1 and 2 will mean pressing the pedal will mean you are pushing the cable. You want a pull on the cable dont you??

they'll both be pulling! just depends on where you place the cable. (I have a long cable from complete car solutions, which is adjustable and long enough for either option!)
So the engine is in the back then?? So the plan is to take the pedal straight back from alongside your foot??
