13"Minilites
Guinness - 3/9/08 at 04:16 PM

Just a quick update on my ebay bargain wheels.

Picked up a set of 4 Minilite style alloys on ebay for £60. 13" x 5.5" with the correct Sierra offset!

Iank brought them up from Cambridge for me, and I finally managed to trial fit them last night. Well they fit perfectly front and rear, with no clearance issues to the calipers, suspension or wings. Although I will have to watch where they put the wheel weights, as 1 set of sticky weights hits the TRE every revolution!

I do need different nuts though, although thanks to the advise on here I think I'm ready to order some.

The wheels will need a refurb, so once I've chosen a colour, they'll be going off to my local powder coater for a blast and clean.

Got various quotes for the tyres, R888's in 185/60R13, are coming in at around £54 a corner delivered but not fitted.

Oh and the best bit is, they are 4 kg a corner lighter than my current 14" Sierra wheels. 16kg un-sprung weight reduction! Whooo hooo!

Overall I'm very happy.

Cheers

Mike

What colour are you going for?

Don't know yet Mark. The powder coating place has a chart of about 100 different colours on the wall.

Will probably avoid flourescent green / orange and go for an Anthracite or silver.

But, as ever, open to suggestions.

Cheers

Mike

Out of interest what do they weigh each without tyres?

And are they original minilites or copies?

I'll let you know the bare weight when I get them back from the powder coater!

They're copies. The only markings they have on them are "Mistral" centre caps and "Carmona" cast into the rim.
