I have noticed that as expected the clutch pedal on our book chassis 2.0 litre pinto car was getting stiff to operate due to the path that the clutch cable has to take through the exhaust manifold from the sierra auto adjustor pedal to the gearbox.
I have just changed it before it failed completly and was hoping to measure up for a longer one that would go right to front of engine and back again, but that will not be possible.
The questions are
1. Is there or has any one fitted / made a hydraulic cylinder to the original pedal box.
2. Can i buy a cable to my length that will not get affected by the heat.
I have already tried to add the heat wrap to the clutch cable as well as the lot already on the exhaust pipe, but do not think this is enough.

Obviusly I do not want to have to start all over with floor pedals.
Any ideas ?

Sierra cosworth cable is mighty long (£15 from most factors), have got one on my robin hood and it goes 'up' the car above the manifold and back underneath - have added some thermal wrap, but might be excessive as it doesn't get any closer than 4 inches to the manifold. No probs after a couple of thousand miles, where as the original melted after 2miles )
