Took the Avon for a whizz. It's great. But there's a knocking from the left side of the diff or dsriveshaft occasionally, especially wqhen turning right. What's it likely to be and how do I check or fix it?

Diff I thought was recon and I think the shafts are new, but not sure about the joint between!

checked the wheel nuts? how about the hub nut, I'd go round them all, including the diff bolts and check their tight. Then go under the back and grab each end of the drive shaft near the rubber boots and see if you can make it knock, could conceivably be play in there.

As above, could be all manner of things at the rear of the car from wheel nuts not tight, a loose bearing or a suspension bush failing or not tight.

Have a good look around the whole rear end before dismantling the drivehafts - hopefully its something much simpler

Drive it slowly in as tight a circle as possible and see if it clatters, could be a cv joint on the way out if it's a definite one way knock.

Worked on my nephews Sierra when his outer went. It clattered like a flamenco dancer on speed.

Thanks. I've agreed to bororw alocal garage lift on Fridya to change the gearbox mount so I'll have a tweak then

Might want to make sure your shafts aren't too long and bottoming out. Should clunk/bang when the wheels go up in bump.
