Suitable Tyres for my project

Hi guys/gals,

I am actually getting down and doing the stuff i should be on my saab project. Namely deciding where the suspension mounting points are.

I have macpherson struts with wishbones mounted to a subframe. This is going into the rear of the car and i have purchased some adjustable top mounts.

So i need to figure out where the top mount should be, and where the subframe mounts need to be.

Reading the excellent book by the guy who built kimini, sorry i can remember your name kurt i think?

Tyres are everything so my question is this, I don't want to go mad with big expensive tyres so what would be a decent size tyre for a v6 mid engine car weighing about 1000kgs (maybe more) with about 250bhp?

Ideally i don't want a cost of more than £50 per tyre excluding fitting. I thought i read that 14 inch tyres are more expensive but they seem to be cheaper? my best bet at the mo seems to be about 195/60/R14 but am not sure how they will work, my saab has 15 inchs as standard.

Anyway once i have a tyre size in mind i can design the place the suspension mounting points appropriately.

I am right in trying to have the bottom wishbone at a slight downward angle from the horizontal and the dampers 40-50% compressed? when the car is stood fully wet that is of course!

Any help would be appreciated!

Many thanks
