road use and track. Fun car basically.
I going to look at a F27 2mo but want to know if the set up is good enough or if it is possible to change it if need be.
thanks

I built a live axle F27, great fun - no issues at all, fitting a 4.44 diff to it over the winter!!

Its a lot of work cutting and fabricating it to make it de -dion, youd be better off purchasing a dedion from the start if thats what you are really after,

I agree with Greg, making a dedion would be retty complex.
There are a few suppliers out there.

These are also plans floating about that allow you to convert the standard live axle rear end to a fully independant et up using sierra components a la MK etc.

Hi.

There is no real reason to change from the live axle. I cant offer any advice on the F27 desighn in terms of how the brackets are located to the chassis or axle Etc. But even if they needed to be changed it would be a darn sight easier than trying to convert to a de-dion or irs with no real significant difference other than actually adding weight over all.

The worst the back end would need would be the chassis and axle brackets changing or the existing ones strengthening and a pair of dampers with valving to suit and a pair of springs to suit the application if the existing ones where not correct.

Cheers Matt

Didn't F27s of this vintage have leading arms (rather than trailing) on the rear suspension?

thanks for all the input guys, i have been reading and you have all confirmed what i have found about live axle's being upto the job. I only asked as i haven't owned a kit car yet so wanted to make sure its worth the money i am looking to pay.
cheers again
