Sierra rear disc brakes
Echidna - 9/10/08 at 05:29 PM

I am currently in the process of brake calculation/design and i have found a good deal for stock Sierra rear disc brakes. Prior buying the kit, i need to know some fundamental info about the stock Sierra rear brakes.

Disc diameter
Caliper piston diameter
Fixed or floating caliper?

Any info on weights would be desirable too.
Thanks in advance for any help!

rear disks are 253x10mm
piston diameter is 42.8mm
Floating caliper (single piston)

the above is for a 85 - 88 XR4x4.

Information sourced from here

Hope that helps anyway

It may help to know that Sierra rear solid discs are the same as Focus rears.

Also Compbrake sell new VW Golf style rear calipers in aluminium for about £60 each.

Look at MGTF rear calipers 40mm piston dia -- a lot bigger piston area than the Sierra which istr is 33mm dia.

Sierra's rear calipers have a piston diameter of 42.8mm, not 33mm, right?
