
what thickness plate should i be looking at to make caliper mountings from?
is 6mm too small? should i be looking more 8-10mm?
6mm should be fine
Core diameter of one of the bolts would give at least equal strength to the mounting bolts (which is over kill).
Also twisting moment to consider so at least 8mm -- perhaps 10mm

my rear caliper brackets are 8mm if that helps.m.

what if i was to use 6mm and fillet it too? or 8mm?
i'm thinking 10mm might not give a great weld penetration on my welder. i'm thinking 6mm should be fine, and the fillet will give the
stiffness it needs?

well, 6mm it is, plus fillets can be welded it if needed i guess
what diameter is the english axle tube? is it 70mm? his brackets look like they might be a perfect fit without mods...
