Just started building my MK indy R my doner is a XR4 two wheel drive version which has drums on rear my question is if I am to fit discs to the rear will i require different drive shafts

No just the conversion plates to allow the fitment of calipers and brackets.

Not differnet driveshafts, but different rear hub carriers with the caliper mounting lugs. You'll also need disc specific uprights from MK as I think the standard ones are for drums.

For what it's worth, drum brakes do the job more than adequately they just don't look as good (IMHO)

You will need to cut off the cylinder carrier etc from the drive shafts and then they should just bolt on using the same hub carrier. The bracket can be supplied by MK or others and bolts onto the upright using the same mountings as the drive shaft. The calipers then bolt straight on.

Just in case you are tempted to just fit the XR4i drums anyway because it seems tricky to change to discs, be aware that the XR4i drums are a huge 10" and the handbrake cable fouls the upright so you can't really use them.
