Homemade aero screen
bill132hotrod - 28/12/08 at 06:31 PM

Hi chaps
I've been pottering around in the garage again, I've been making an Areo screen and thought i would share my progress photos with you, and to see what you all think of it, its not quite finished yet but nearly there just got to secure the screen to the supports and maybe run a length of wing piping along the bottom edge, Then of corse (silly me) remove the protective film so i can see through it. Ha Ha Ha
Comments please fellars and gilrs if you please.
Regards BILL

By the way I.ve done nearly 50 miles in it now since it PASSED SVA friday 19/12/08 and it goes like S*** off a well oiled shoval.

Looks good, however if you look through it, it'll need wipers and demister for SVA

Those mounts are sweet!

That'll be why it says he's passed his SVA

Looks fab..

Thats my next job Bill...How did you make the uprights and what material have you used for the screen.

Paul.

Until I make a screen the missis will not come out with me ..so no rush

Hi Paul the uprights are hand cut from 3mm sheet aluminium, with 12mm ali angle for the supports riveted to the uprights, the 16V logo was also hand cut (drilled out 1st then filed to perfection, and the screen is 4mm polycarbonate, again hand cut Total cost about £25.
Regards Bill.

Hi Bill boyo, there's lovely!!

Seriously, that looks like a really smart bit of kit.

Quote - Hi Paul the uprights are hand cut from 3mm sheet aluminium, with 12mm ali angle for the supports riveted to the uprights,...

Do you have a drawing/sketch, for the upright?

Cheers
Dick

PS - Does anyone reinforce the screen mounting inside their scuttle, so as to securely earth screen loading on to the top chassis rail?
