Repairing crack in GRP
L5W - 16/7/10 at 11:12 PM

I won't go into the details but basically thanks to this furry git......

....I now have this crack in the corner of my bonnet

Is there a relatively easy way to repair it? clear resin then polish maybe? or am I best to just leave it and live with it?

currently fighting the urge to cook a ginger cat curry.....

Thanks,

Lee

Ideally you will need to drill a small hole in the end of each crack to stop them going any further, dig out every crack down to the matting and then carefully fill the lot with gel coat, failing that a respray.

Oh and if still fancy a cat curry, just have a word with your local Chinese takeaway

you could prep the cat for a curry, it already has the ginger!!! just stuff with chili that should sort it. Call it moggy masala lol

Also grind down the back of the crack and fill it with fibre glass repair paste. Then gell coat the front and finish with wet and dry.

That's is really useful! I will have to do a similar thing soon.

What, weld a cat up?

They do this to damaged bike panels. You could solve two problems in one if you used the cat!

Have a chat with MK as they may be able to send you some matching gelcoat mate. At least you would get the repair as close as possible without the need for paint.

When I first read the title I thought it was going to be a post on 'Repairing GRP on Crack'!

I have seen 'De Cat' pipes for sale, would one of these be of any use to you
