My side lights stopped working and I've just checked the fuse and it's blown. I changed the fuse and tried the lights and again the fuse
went. Strange thing is the side lights and main lights are on the same savage switch, press once for sides and twice for main. The mains still work as
do the high beam off another switch.
I did put a 15A fuse in to try and it melted the wire behind the switch so replace the wire and changed back to 10A.
Anyone know what could cause just the side lights to blow the fuse.
Bad relay, water in the light maybe? melted cable somewhere else shorting. Get a multimeter and trace the fault.
bad earth
Mostly likely cause is the earth wire on the switch is on the wrong terminal, but you will need to check the wiring for damage.
A 5 amp fuse should be more than enough for 4 side lamps + numberplate + instruments.
Just noticed that one of the empty metal connectors on the back of the relay was bent and touching the connector with the power. Would this have caused it?
quote:probably... - and even if it didn't, it certainly wouldn't help!
