jpindy3 - 17/7/09 at 08:12 PM

any engine any number of turbos or what ever else,
there has to be some mental cars out there,
has one been 200mph,
its quite so silly queston time.

has anyone fitted a vayron engine to a 7?
or should i say fit a 7 to a vayron engine.

probably one of those twin bike engined tiger things is the fastest accelerating seven type, I imagine.....

tomgregory2000 - 17/7/09 at 08:21 PM

ive only been 115mph in mine on a private motorway but it was sooooo windy with no screen or anything i didnt go any higher

eccsmk - 17/7/09 at 08:22 PM

i have no idea

maybe check out hicost's car i would guess its rather quick
and very

daniel mason - 17/7/09 at 08:25 PM

you would need serious power to get near those speeds with the aerodynamics of a 7!

Guinness - 17/7/09 at 08:26 PM

K2RUM has done 159mph.

Mine will pull straight to the rev limiter in top even with a passenger an indicated 136mph on private roads
Would love try it with a 3.14 diff but refuse to pay stupid money for one!

Think you should take a look at the Donkervoort D8 270RS (VAG 1.8T putting out 270BHP)

Took the laprecond on the Ring

double post

7's are not about top speed or you would have a totaly enclosed body which would give you at least 15mph more for the same spec.
7 V's Fury

The M6 is not a private road

Won't be long, what with them kicking around every scrappy in the country.

The Caterham Levante is a pretty wild machine, two bike engines mated to form a 40valve, 2 litre V8 with a power to weight ratio of about 1000 per tonne. It was in TopGear magazine not all that long ago and looks amazing.

loks like no wheels to me, all 4 are off the ground

is this restricted to 7 shapes only or any locost kit

Jasper - 18/7/09 at 09:22 AM

Yeah - that's what I was thinking, mines geared to around 170-180, and with 340lbft of torque and an aerodynamic body I reckon I would get most of the way there.

Got Abingdon next week, so I'll let you know at what speed I bottle out

I really like that, even if the wing is a bit Halfords car park chic.

t.j. - 20/7/09 at 03:40 PM

there was/is somearound trying to squezzz a V10 viper-engine in.

Don't know but I think it will be pretty fast, if he dares to push it to the bottom.

But what's the status?

that will be me then, engine is in and running, just need to put all the other bits on car now, should be drivable soon and out at shows next year.

doesn't look much like a 7 yet, but the body work from the viento fits over nicely, and the standard arches fit perfect over the 10J 295/30 18 rears!!!!

t.j. - 31/7/09 at 07:44 AM

That looks great.
It also will be a beast!

Ninehigh - 31/7/09 at 10:22 AM

You know I'm surprised someone hasn't already shown (confused) us with the math and told us just how much power we'd need to achieve 200mph...

bj928 - 31/7/09 at 11:56 AM

someone did the math once to work out how much HP it takes to spin the wheels in 4th and i was at lease 100hp above the power needed,

the viper car runs out of revs in 5th gear at 176mph, and then pulls the .50 6th gear to 195mph, so i'm guessing 200mph won't be a problem for my little 800kg arrow/7 rep, if the engine will brake through the air with a car weighing 1.6 tonne and a gear rotio of .50.

No maths displayed, but it should be in the region of 600-650bhp*

*depending on the exact shape of your 7-style car, the weight, transmission efficiency & tyre rolling resistance vs (high) speed characteristics - y'know, trivial stuff like that!

bj928 - 31/7/09 at 10:27 PM

standard viper v10 gen3 comes in at 505hp+ 525Ib/ft+, as mine is remapped to run no, cat, power steering or air con, and its been given a more aggresive map as well, i'm guessing i could well be close to the 600hp and 600Ib/ft, i think they can get it to well over 600 on mapping alone for race use, but as long as i get 10% with no cats and a remap i will be happy. as you say, it will depend on car, but at the higher speeds the torque will be of more use than horse power, and i'll have that by the truck load, i am hoping to top 200 if i can keep it on the ground, 5th is geared to 221mph, 6th is just for show and economy!!!!!!!!!!

Ninehigh - 1/8/09 at 06:34 AM

Let us know how those bags of torque hold on the road, will be interesting to know for the purposes of this thread:
