What sort of 2 stroke oil do i use in a 125cc motocross bike engine?

How do i know how much to mix?

Sorry for the dumb question but never had any dealings with 2 stroke stuff!

I used to use 125ml per 5l of petrol, and bought mine from my local KTM dealer

autolube- where the bike or whatever has 2 tanks 1 for oil 1 for petrol and they mix automatically

You need to consult the manual, or dealer, they differ, usually about 20 - 25 parts petrol to 1 part Oil, modern synthetic 2 stroke oils are much better so may be as little as 30 - 1.

no, most motocross bikes don't mix.
I used to use Putoline 2 stroke. But any 2 stroke oil is OK.
And from memory its about 30:1 mix, but depends on the bike, age, condition. But thats a good start and then you can adjust to suit

Some run as oil lean as 50:1

25:1 to 30:1 is typical ---- don't use too much oil

Absolutely depends on the bike and the application, most are 25 - 1, but I've seen some that go as high as 20 - 1 and as low as 50 - 1 (although that was a full race spec engine that gets rebuilt every few hundred miles)

25 to 1 is about right... but as a measurement:.

2000ml of fuel will require 80ml of oil...at 25 to 1.

you can go down to 30 to 1 aswell.. so ...

2000ml of fuel will require 66ml of oil.

so ML for fuel devided by the ratio will give you how much oil you need.

Its a 2003 suzuki RM 125cc and it in very good condition.

Can i get some 2 stroke oil from the petrol station?

i would not use the 2 stoke oil you get from the petrol station, i would go with the proper stuff or you will just wear out ya bike.


by the way i am seriously thinking of getting rid of the kit car and getting another motor cross bike !!!!

went out on my old cr500 at the weekend.... brilliant day .... ache like hell today

in my 2001 kawasaki kx 125 and 2004 ktm sxs 125 it was 50:1 and always kept with the same oil, Castrol!!

TS50x is anywhere from 25:1 to 40:1 but I think 30:1 is the best mix, don't forget to waggle your fuel tank if its been stood a while with premix, remember those days! For a kart you may just have to pick the back up and shake!!

Never just poor the oil in the bike fuel tank, mix it up in a can and give it a good shake !!!!

then put it in the bike... also don't leave the fuel standing in the bike when not in use...

My Villiers engined 1950's Qualcast motor mower uses 8:1 petrol/oil mix
At least with all that oil smoke there are no pests on the roses

Is there an online manual for the suzuki RM 125cc?

if mixed 2t is left for awhile the petrol can destroy the oil and it can turn to crap, mixed 2t should be used with in a month.

When I raced karts the Rotax MAX ran 50:1 and I premixed it in a 20 Litre Jerry can, 19 Litre fuel to 380ml of Putoline 2/ oil.

14,000 RPM and never lost an engine to oil issues. The only engine I lost was when my team mate did the fuel for me and put RS75 Gearbox oil in the Jerry can..... Make sure you use the right oil

Silkolene Pro 2 at 50:1. More oil will just make the throttle response poor and drop the power. 2% is plenty with good oil.
