Brake hoses Q
serieslandy - 8/6/11 at 08:24 PM

I bought some brake hoses from russbost last week and can't get hold of him (he's on holiday)
1 of the bulkhead fittings had an indent for a male flare (obvious)
The other 3 didn't. They had a flat. Do I need to drill out to make an indent for a male flare to sit on.
Use it as is, a female flare sits better than a male but I'm still not 100% happy with the fit.
Or any other ideas

Cheers guys.

Still away on hols, but if you look closely you should find that the bulkheads all have a convex outer seat to accept a female end on the copper pipe, if you're fitting copper or kunifer to the bulkhead fittings then TBH the stainless steel ends will seal perfectly to either type of seat.
I must admit I'm slightly confused that you say one seems slightly different to the others as I only normally stock one type???

Also sent you a txt last night I'm guessing you didn't get it/ work phone.

1 of these: Does this need a male flare and the others female?

They will both accept female flare to mate with the convex outer, the bottom one will also accept a male flare to mate with the convex seat at the centre - usually all my stock is of the type in the bottom picture, simply because they are more versatile.
