Motorcycle alternator
A bit short of room to mount the alternator, someone mentioned the Nippon Denso from Daihatsu etc, anybody looked at using one from a mototbike? there
are a few more reasonably priced than the Denso on ebay. Seem to have cush rubber drives but looks like would take a pulley OK. Anyone know of major
problems such as wrong polarity?

The regulator is a seperate item, so that will add to price and wiring.

I've got a Nippo alternator off a Suzuki swift knocking about. Yours for a tenner if you want it.

One BIG thing is REVS. A bike can do 13000 rpm. I am not sure that the bike alternator works that well at 2000-4000 rpm as this is most likely to be a
cars normal range in day to day traffic.
You will have to make a pulley to change the speed.

Bike alternators are gear driven, the extra sideways load of the belt would put additional strain on the bearings. I looked into this a while back,
and generally bike alternator shafts/bearings are very small in comparison with car alts.
What about the Kubota alternator, been used very successfully by many.
