trackfodder in wonderland
just got home from a session with the chassis. all kinds of fit problems with the tranny, but not insurmountable. the corola 5-sp. has two spring
plungers to center the shifter that are too wide to pass thru the uprights(k) so will have to insert them after installing power unit and use rubber
plugs in tunnel to cover access holes. fortunately for some reason i used a 1" square tube in front of (c) & (d) on top rather than between
them and it turns out that the front two shifter lid bolts would have been directly under the crosspiece in its normal position. had to cave in a
portion of inside of left (H) to clear clutch slave cyl. and will have to re-position (i)&(m) to outside of tunnel cover and rivet from inside as
i am doing in other places such as rear end of tunnel where i needed more room for u-joint. all my letter callouts are, of course, from THE BOOK.
