master Cylinders (Cortina?)

Hi All
A while ago someone (sorry cant remember who) posted a comment that one way of getting a softer better feeling brake pedal was to fit a Cortina MK3 brake master cylinder.
I went to UNIPART in Exeter and they have one type and can get the other But………….
Now here comes the question , the one they had at the counter was a four outlet type, which to me suggest the other one probably would be as well.
Was It always going to be necessary to modify my pipe work?
Has anyone fitted this Mod?
Am I chasing the wrong master cylinder?
Any help gratefully recived.

As an aside when I went into Kevin Coopers in town and asked for a Cortina brake master cylinder
The youth behind the counter asked me “That’s a Ford init”
Made me feel very old!

I'm going through a similar exercise myself a the moment, trying to replace the Sierra 22mm cylinder with one with a smaller bore. I've researched most of the suggestions I've seen, but found nothing that was either pipe or mount compatible with the Sierra item.

I've eventually acquired a Fiesta Mk1 non servo, tandem cylinder. This has a bore of 18mm, so if my maths is correct should give about 50% more pressure for the same pedal effort.

I didn't want to hack about with original Sierra mounts, so I've made up an adapter to fit it. Needless to say the outlets are all in different places, so there's some frigging about with the pipework to happen yet......I just hope when it's all done that the results are worth the effort....!

Post 1980 Cortina (at least the V6 variants) master cylinders had 3 ports. The pre 1980 appear to have only two.

I can't find any info re m/c diameter at the mo, although I can't see Ford paying to have different tooling done - not much else changed between the Cortina III & IV

Surely the V6 Cortinas must have had a servo?
