brake master Cylinders (Again!)
Hi
I asked a question on here about swapping the Sierra brake master cylinder for a Cortina MK3 or Fiesta Mk1 non servo in an attempt to get a nicer
brake pedal.
One of the things that came up was that both of these are four ports as opposed to the Seirra which is
A three port.
The question is can you mount a four port master cylinder and block off one port?
Are they connected inside in parallel or diagonally internally?

yes you can block one of the two ports at the front off, doing so will have no effect on the cylinder performance.
front pair of connectors do both front brakes, rear pair do the back.

Just put you brake light switch in the spare hole.

I'm working on this too at the moment. I'm going to keep the sierra m/c and mount it in its correct position so that the top of the
reservoir is level (it's tilted backwards at a 10-12 degree angle in the sierra). I can then keep the pushrod straight and mount it lower down
the pedal. A quick calculation shows that it will increase the pedal ratio by approximately 50%.
I'll be making and mounting the spacer within a few weeks, after the engine is out (I've got some cleaning up to do after 4 years on the
road, an engine swap and the Megasquirt install....)
Will let you guys know how I get on.
