Making Wishbone Plates
Hello all.
Just finished making the upper bones (why didn't I buy them???) and now moving on to the lower ones. any advice on cutting the plates out to
take the 2-hole princess balljoint and bending, etc. gratefully received.
But please bear in mind I am not the proud owner of hi-tech milling tools etc  just a simple guy (on a simple budget!)

@ £8.87 each you'd have to question even attempting to make your own plates. Even if there's VAT and carriage on top!

But aren't they for the Haynes Roadster? I'm building the +442 and I've made the top bones +50mm to cater for the 52" axle.

I have the .dxf for some +4 wishbones, i'll check what final width they're for.

I modified the front to take wider pick-off points (see my long winded thread)
so I could keep the ratio of width to length and retain the strength. I'm not sure how that will figure in the +4 bones?

Buy them, trust me.
I bought the Haynes front plates from 3GE and the quality is spot on.
I didn't fancy trying to put an accurate bend in 5mm either.
I did cut and weld my own differential mounts from 5mm, and it was a long, dirty, noisy job. Next time (?) I'll probably just buy anything that
is 5mm or over.
Laser cutting/water jet is soo much easier than using an angry grinder, although not as much fun

I DID make my own. cost me more in bl**y cutting discs than to buy them ready made...

I made my own for my 442 as welll. as already said if you don't have access to cheap or borrowed holesaws then buy them as the total cost of
tools will outstrip the cost of buying. There are pics in my archive of how I did them ( but I kept the original book sizes).
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Mine are +50mm same as yours.
I put two bits of 5mm plate together and chain drilled and filled them out
And yes I spent ages saying why oh why didnt I stick to the book.
