As topic really. How do peeps go about doing this on a non road legal car? Could do with bedding them in before SVA
If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!

There is no way Im gonna have time to book an MOT in between now and SVA. Nice thought though!

Take it out in the dark on a public looking private road.
If theyr new pads and discs etc they wont need much. Just get em hot.

Just drive to SVA. You know you want to Do quite a few sudden braking manoeuvers (when no-one is behind you!!) to ensure the pads get nice and hot.
Job done....

So what about setting the balance then? Will they let me do this at Stalag Southampton SVA centre? And then lock the balance bar as well??

The recommended way to bed them is not to do any violent stops till the pads are worn in. Gentle slow downs and lots of them to start with then bed
them in by braking but not locking the wheels so the pads are not in contact with the hot disks for long periods at a standstill.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

There are any different opinions on how to bed brakes in. Some are the softly softly approach, with 250-300 miles of gentle driving. Some are a bit
more aggressive. I tend to do a few miles of gentle driving followed by 2 30-0 stops with a fair pedal. Then 2 at 40-0. Then 2 more at 50-0, then
another 2 at 60-0. Then a final 1 or 2 heavy stops from 70. It's worked so far for me.

No, it depends on not getting caught!

I've bedded / bedding my tin top brakes in with a drive up the m6 - doing normal very gentle braking with the occasional 70 to 60, then 70 to 50
slow downs depending on traffic - means i get some heat / friction in occasionally with plenty of cool down time and lots of gentle rubbing as needed.
Hopefully that will do it.
