Which Brake Master Cylinder???

Ok,
Progress tonight. I picked up my ali today, and made a plate up to fit in the front of the footwell, and mouted my sierra pedal box to it with a bit of modifying.

However........

Because the brake pedal is some 8" away from the bulkhead at home position, i have room to fit a master cylinder Inside the footwell, with some more brackets etc etc. More room for the engine, steering column etc.

So. What im looking for, is information regarding Master Clinders.

Ther are some that quote numbers 0.7, 1.2, 1.6 etc etc, What do these mean? Is this the diameter of the hole? Is it the force multiplier? - ie 0.7 times the amount of force on the pedal etc.?

A bit confusing really, especially as ive only ever replaced one like for like from an auto parts dealer.

I'm not sure if you're going to be competing in the car but there used to be a rule that you weren't allowed brake / clutch reservoirs inside the cockpit. I've seen that rule broken many times but thought I'd warn you just in case!

Regards

Wyn

Thanks for the info.

Im not going to be racing the car other than on track days, but i dont see that its good practice to have the reservoirs in the cockpit anyway.
With frequent aggresive use, the fluid can get to almost boiling point, and if the reservoir, hoses or fittings were to fail, youd be boiled in your own brake fluid! Not nice, particularly as if you were using the brakes this hard in the first place, youre probably hammering normal speed limits, and that kind of distraction could prove fatal by other means!!

Yes... ask Hicost what it's like to be boiled in your own coolant whilst heading towards the Donnington chicane at 120!

Cheers,
James
