Green or Black stuff ?

The time has finally come to replace my front pad's (both sides have suffered from sticking pistons , so 1 pad on each side is down to about 2mm )
Problem is - they are about 6 years old (bearing in mind the car was in bit's for 4 years...) , green stuff pads - and I have heard somewhere that the formula has changed since I bought mine .
But I am perfectly happy with them - are the `new` one's much different , and how do Black stuff pads compare ?

Help.................

Claire,

1144s and Hawk Blacks seem to be popular recommendations.

When I did the zetec conversion, the original pads (and tyres for that matter) simply weren't up to the task. Upgraded to Hawk Blacks and am happy with the result (Although they do generate a lot of dust)

I've got Yellow stuff in standard Sierra calipers, and they work great.

I've always been impressed with green stuff, although that may well have been the old compound.
