Best Brake Master Cylinder?

I have the brake master cylinder from the sierra which i am meant to use for my build. what worries me is that it is a pretty large master cylinder which should have servo assistance.

what would be the best master cylinder to replace it with from a non servo assisted car? i will be running standard sierra calipers and drums.

i dont want to use dual cylinders with a bias bar before anyone suggests it

cheers

Ash

This sounds good so i've bought one to try, but will be a while before I'll get a chance to try it.

your car will be half the weight of the sierra, therefore youll only need to apply half the force to the brake pedal to still bring it to a stop in a similar distance. .

ETA I'm also trying to find a link, but im sure brake servos just about double braking force, so I'm not sure you would even perceive too much of a difference between the two setups

ETA x 2 - just read that thread, maybe im wrong

I used the standard sierra MC on my car with M16 at the front and Capri drums at the rear, no need for a compensator, passed SVA with no problems and a pleasure to drive after 10K miles in 4 years on the road.

The non cast tubular MC will work by just removing the servo and bolting straight onto the sierra pedal box

The a Seven style car is a lot lighter than a Sierra but there isn't enough room to get long enough pedals a decent pedal leverage ratio as a result without a servo you will have to press the pedal about 2 to 3 times harder than in the donor Sierra.
Production cars without a servo have always use a smaller bore cylinder than those with a servo ---- Caterham and Westfield both use 17mm bore master cylinders on the standard setup.

This subject is covered at least 4 times a month in the forum, if you do a search you will find lists of suitable dual circuit master cylinders from non-servoed equiped models.suggest you try the forum search.
