escort rear axle and wheel clearance
ok guys
trial fitted my compomotive ml 15x7 wheels which i had from my old fwd ford and as such have the usual offset of 38
i knew they would foul the arch/trailing arms and yup they did after a measure up it would seem there is 130mm distance measured from wheel mounting
face to the trailing arm and the same measurement on my wheels is 140mm
i am not a fan on wheel spacers but needs must so my question is how much clearance are you guys running? looking around 20mm spacer seem the norm for
fitting fwd offset wheels to locosts and this would give me 10mm which i think would be plenty, i all ready have a set of longer studs so thats no
problem.
Also my other question is the wheel fit fine on the front with no spacers but will i have issues regarding geometrey? i assume the front suspension
was designed for RWD offset around ET24
(luego locost chassis)
cheers
duncan
ps why is always one step forwards and three back when working on our kitcars lol

The tyres on my car just rubbed the trailng arms. I fitted 10mm spacers which gave about 8mm clearance. It has been fine for over 5000 miles.

I might have a set of univesal 19mm spacers up for grabs by the end of the week from my locost if you are interested.
I'd say if you can get 8mm of clearance between the tyre and the trailing arm then you should be okay though IMHO.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
