best paint stripper

now i've got the axle brackets re-welded, i need to strip all the paint back off and re-do it (the paint kept catching fire lol)

whats the best paint stripper to use? i can use a wire brush in the grinder for most of it, but can't get into all the corners. is there one i can sort of pour over and the paint runs off? or is that wishful thinking?

also, it really needs to no attack grease in bearings and stuff, although they will most likely get replaced anyway. but just in case any stripper gets left inside the casing

What about a hot air gun and wire brush, it may melt the greese but if your careful it should not hurt the bearings.

i've got a hot air gun, but its the getting into the corners thats the issue really.
i'm going to get all the bits i can with the angry grinder with wire brush in it, but what's nitromors like for the rest? do you brush it on, and then wash it off or something?

For goodness sake wear goggles or be really careful. Nitomors is brilliant but really nasty stuff.

I used to use it on Citadel Miniatures when a kid. The fumes that came off when washing them off in warm tap water were horrendous!

Just wipe it off with a rag, usually takes every single bit of paint with it (unless it's very thick), but do heed the warnings about goggles, really woudn't want that stuff in my eye (come to think of it I don't want anything in my eye!), bare skin's not to bad as it stings almost straight away and you can wash it off with water before anything drops off.

as long as it comes of fairly easy thats good i really don't want to screw this whole thing up again

so, plenty of rags, thick gloves (PVC gauntlets?) goggles,

plan is to get all the paint off, maybe a quick rinse to make sure its all off, and then dry it all off with a heat gun (or maybe a wiper over with some thinners?) so i can get some etch primer on before it gets rusty

sound right?

Just one more thing, give it time to work, it's great stuff but it needs 10-20 minutes to work depending on the thickness of the paint. Slap it on and go and have a brew, come back and just rub a bit off, if it clears it down to the metal it's ready, if not leave it a bit longer. On very thick paint you might need to do it twice.
