which diff

I have done a quick search but not seemed to find the right results.

Q. What is the recommended diff for a CEC. There seems lots of debate and answers for BEC but Im going to be useing a vauxhall 20 16v and want to know whats the best ratio etc

Any advise appreciated..

in my red top powered viento i had the 3.92 lsd ish ratio and acceleration was rapid but did suffer at a slightly higher cruising speed due to the increased rpm, i would look out for a 3.62 ish one which should be a good comp, i was running 17" wheels as well

handy calculator HERE you can play with different diff ratios to see their effect on speed in each gear

cheers

If it's of any use, I might have a 3.62 non-LSD up for grabs in the coming days?

Drop me a U2U if you're interested!

Just changed from a 3.65 to a 3.92 on 15" wheels on my Xtreme.

If you can put up with 70mph in top at 3400 - go for it!

Acceleration seems much better and I am happy to put up with buzzy cruising as cruising is not the point of my car

I have a 3.92 in mine at the moment. Was great with the pinto as it gave that bit quicker acceleration. The downside as mentioned is 60mph is 3000rpm (20mph/1000rpm in 5th with a T9)

I will be changing to a 3.62 LSD after Stoneleigh, I have trouble putting the power down now anyway, so I am not going to loose any acceleration in the lower gears and its going to lower the cruising RPMs for a more relaxing drive and better economy on a long run (not that its that important!) Should lower each cruisin rpm by around 500rpm. It also means I should be able to hit 63mph in 2nd for that all important 0-60 dash.
