Well with that much sealer in the joint surely it's not the split that's been leaking! I'd expect they only need a fraction of
that.
Did you try anything to find the leak before removing the tyres? I'd expect they'd be leaking where the bead of the rim & tyre seal
against each other, there looks to be a bit of corrosion on the rim in that bottom pic that would cause it.
With the tyre on the rim & lying on it's side on flat run some soapy water around the bead & check for bubbles, do the same around the
valve.

What was the age of the tyres? The buggers could go porous as well

Looks like leadmate builders sealant! Still that should be OK as it is a low modulus silicone. Why not clean up and rebuild one and test for leaks as
the other guys suggest?
Cheers

will do,
to be honest two held air, two didnt would go flat after 2-3 weeks, just annoyed me and they are expensive wheels too,
ill clean the parts when the tyres sit that should help too i think

As someone mentioned above...
I'd put 5pence that it was the seal of the tyre against the inner/outer rim and not the wheel itself leaking...
That surface really should be clean...
