front bearing
I've recently fitted a wheel bearing in drivers side sierra front upright on my Mk.
Took hub off, got the nut free (that was tight), carefully drifted carriers out etc.
Fitted new bearings fairly straight forward,
tightened up nut to somewhere near torque (Haynes book says 229lbs plus)
torque wrench only went up to 150lbs, so i tightened up just a touch more.
Anyway put wheel on and is not as free as other side, spun with hand only does 3 revolutions, other side 30+.
i've done 200miles does'nt feel any free'er, hub feels warmer than other side.
Have i got anything to worry about?

Normal for it to be a bit tight at first but just a few miles usually sorts them out, 200 miles isn't right so I would be tearing them down
again and checking that everythings seated correctly.
Cheers

doesn't sound right, I'd have another look
(can't you borrow a big torque wrench from somewhere ? )

Yeah, think i'll beg/borrow a truck torque wrench, see if that'll make a difference.

Wouldn't tightening it up more make it err! tighter?

if your in any doubt over the condition of the bearings I'd get new ones
also a press makes it really easy to push in the new ones if you can get hold of one

I've just had exactly the same but on the other side. Mine seems to have been that when I did it last time I didn't have one of the
bearing races all the way in up to the small ridge in the hub.
I've just done it again, freezing the bearing and baking the hub and still had to give it a good go with a drift. Mine's still making an
intermittent squeak now though!
