Brake fluid

What brake fluid do people recommend for a seven, or do you need more info.

The best thing is to use what was recommended for the donor brake system. Our cars are very light and do not put heavy demands on the brake system. Racing is different.

Any Dot 4 fluid should be fine

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Ordinary ester based D.o.T. 4 or D.o.T. 5.1

N.B. D.o.T. 5.1 not D.o.T.5

If you intend serious track use go for Dot5.1 but change it every year.

DOT4 is fine for road use, it is less hydroscopic so changing it every 2 years is more than enough.

Avoid competition fluids -- they are very hydroscopic really need changed twice per year they are also highly inflamble.

In general the higher the boiling point of the fluid the more hydroscopic it is and also more flamable --- brake fluid fires used to be very common in motorsport than can be very nasty because it burn very hot.
