tips/how to fit half shafts bolts

After snapping the bolts on my rear half shalft last week. I bought a replacement sent. however whist the bolts go in and thread correctly, are there any tricks to putting the assembly back together.

Sat under the car at the weekend and could not get any of the bolts to seat properly, whilst trying to thread them through the flange to the wheel.

Are there any tricks, tips, hints as to how to bolt the flange back to to the wheel assembly. I could get 1 bolt in , but it woud not go in far, and the others, where just as bad.
cheers
Craig

Have you tried the bolts without the joint to make sure they're the right thread?

Do any of the bolts thread correctly into the flange without the joint/shaft fitted?
If not, then you may have the wrong bolts!

Doh - too slow again!

When mine came loose on the Mnr, I noticed that the bolts had damaged the flange when they came loose

All the bolts work/fit and thread properly without the flange fitted. I have looked at the glange, and there is nothing wrong with it, that I can see.

but is there a knack to fitting it all back together - you know, left foot touching your right heel, turnaround 3 times and say abracadabra. Or is is just cold and old fingers not working properly?

The angle on the shaft does make it tricky to start the bolts sometimes and cold hands wont help. It's just a case of holding the joint square to the flange with one hand, putting the bolt through with second hand and using a third hand to rotate/wiggle the hub to find the holes...

Thanks Adithorp, as I thought it was the third had that was missing. I will try again at the weekend, assuming the garage has de-thawed.
