A little help with a dilemma
Ok so in my near sightedness in attempting to get this car finished this year, Ive managed to make a small mistake regarding the transmission set up
on my car.
Originally I was fitting a Zetec and decided to go old school with a pinto,
Ive fitted a type 9 and a lightened flywheel with standard clutch, and heres the mistake, Ive left the Ct133 zetec ok release bearing in, and now i go
to fit the clutch cable and find the fork has alot of free play and there isnt enough adjustment on the cable.
What release bearing do I need?

I read that, but im still not sure exaclty where my error is as a ct133 is a capri release bearing so shouldnt it fit the pinto in a type 9?

Are you sure you have the right lever arm? there's several types
forks are always meant to have heaps of free play as that reduces as the clutch wears, don't go by the cable, more important is does the lever
arm have sufficient travel to disengage the clutch??

Here's a picture of the 2 types of release bearing
The standard Sierra one is on the left CT132 & the longer CT133 bearing is on the right.
A little confused as to why you have a lot of freeplay in the clutch arm if you have the longer bearing fitted !!??

yeah if it was the longer one then the clutch should be fully compressed and he'd have no movement of the lever arm at all

I have loads of free play, the fork is the one that came with the box when i brought it, im lead to believe it was coupled to a 1600 pinto, all i did
was clean it and paint it. then replaced the release bearing and clutch.
so the free play shouldnt be an issue i just need to figure out a way of reducing the slack cable at the pedal in as well as the adjuster on the cable
where it enters the gearbox guide before latching into the fork.
this is the cable i have, NEW Ford Capri Mk1 1.3/1.6 68-72 Clutch Cable QCC1005 on eBay (end time 06-Mar-11 22:46:07 GMT)

For assembly of my type 9 with that clutch cable, I made a 12mm spacer to go onto the adjuster, to take up the slack. Otherwise my pedal had too much
play in it and it would bottom out before fully depressing the clutch cover.

yeah sounds like it's just the cable that needs sorting, just a but of tube with slotdown it's length to let the cable though should act
as a spacer
