english axle diff ratio for pinto
hi, can anyone advise best english diff ratios for road going car with pinto engine.Tyres 13 inch 60 profile.How do i check my exist diff ratio and
can any recommend supplier or rebuilder of complete diff assy. thanks

Mine is a 3.75 but first gear is almost redundant so would have preferred a 3.44.
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

What gearbox?
The English axle had a rocket box or similar 4 speed which usually had a longer 1st than the type 9 5 speed.
It would be well worth looking at a gear ratio, tyre size spread sheet, you'll then get a good idea what speed in gear you will get.

Don't think English axles come in 3.44, mine's a 3.54. Coupled to a 4 speed box, it seems about right for the road.

Sorry, mine is a Capri salisbury, but a ratio is a ratio! I have even considered a 3.15 from a 2.8i
