English axle on an 1963 Ford Thames Van? Questions about English Axle
Hello all :-)
I am in need of an English axle for my 7 racer and I was wondering if a 1963 Ford Thames Van originally was equipped with this? I may be able to
purchase such a car reasonably here in Norway.
If it has a English/banjo axle, has anyone got any idea of the number of teeth on the crown an pinion wheel? Is it perhaps a 4,1:1 or a 4,4:1 axle?
Has anyone got any idea of the width of this axle originally delivered on this van?
How do one spot if a car has an English axle or not? Is there any other axles that is similar, but not quite an English axle?
Awful lot of questions, any replies most welcome. Thanks, Lochraceness

If its not a '63 TV 400e or 800e but a 105e (looks like a cross of a ford pop and an anglia) type then it was apparently 43 inches wide hub face
to hub face... ...according to my googling. Narrower than the english in escorts which were 48 inches (FROM MEMORY!!!)
I didn't know that the english axle came in so many widths tho... ...although I THINK that the spring mounting plates had different widths....
nothing is impossible
everything is possible

Thank you very much for your reply.
This is the car in question: http://www.finn.no/finn/car/used/object?finnkode=31118632
Seems to me that this is a 400E? I know nothing about these cars, but I've also tried googleing a bit without too much success. I did, however,
find that the Ford Thames 'shared the driveline with Ford Consul and Zephyr'. Does that mean it does not have an English axle?
Cheers.
