Throttle Position Sensor: Slide Type

I was sketching out a nice little slide-type throttle body the other night, when it occured to me that slide-type throttle position sensors may not be widely available (if at all).

I worked out a way of using a rotary sensor (such as those used just about everywhere), but for a cleaner solution I'd like a sensor that detects the lateral motion of the throttle slide.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers,

Neil.
