the thick thread that goes to the wishbone is M18 isn't it?
so the one you're talking about should be metric too. M6 or M8?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

What size nut is it ? Mine is a 19mm nut and M12x1.5 thread I think, it's definitely bigger than M8 and M6.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

19mm spanner fits it, but a 12mm mm nut does not, it looks like a fine thread,
but it should be metric??

Pretty sure it's 12mm x 1.5mm pitch
Why not just measure it?
You can meausre OD with a vernier/ steel rule/ tape measure, then use another standard bolt to check the pitch.
6mm bolt = 1mm pitch, 8mm bolt = 1.25mm pitch 10mm bolt = 1.5mm pitch, 12mm bolt = 1.75mm pitch, 14mm bolt = 2mm pitch.

Main thread is M18x1.5 metric fine. Taper arm thread is M12x1.75 std metric. Lower wishbone maxi balljoint is M12x1.25 metric fine. So don't get
the nuts mixed up.

As per Dave's post,
The top ball joint to hub carrier is 12x 1.25, ie a standard 8mm bolt fits the pitch exactley
the bottom ball joint on my maxi joint is 14mm x1.25, and this one was not affected, as its still has its castle nut and splitpin
Thanks

Get a set of thread gauges and measure the pitch , that way you will know for sure and they will last a lifetime and cost pennies
