Ford steering column extension

Can anyone help me please with this problem -

I have just made up the dash board for the Riot and I can't get enough clearance between the steering wheel and the dash front.

The column and wheel are from the donor Ford Puma and have a hexagonal tapered end to which the wheel is fixed with a single bolt.

Is there such a thing as an extension piece to get 5-10mm extra length to the hexagonal part?

It would be a real pain to extend the column in any other way and I need the depth to the dash to clear the instruments. I want to use the Puma wheel as it should be IVA compliant.

I have tried searching and come up blank!

Thanks

it has 2 triangular shaped crimps in the lower outer section to hold the inner sliding triangular bit.

Mark/scribe the inner where it appears out of the outer round column, then remove it and line it up to your mark.

If you want only 5-10mm I reckon you will be able to acheive that, but still let the inner section reach the upper crimp, by re-fitting it but not pushing it as far in as it previously was....

How much "slack" is there in your upper uj, is the inner column tight up on the uj joint, you might nick another few millimetres here too.

I'll give that a try tommorrow - thanks.

I only need 5-10mm so fitting a boss seems over the top and expensive.
