Suspension Springs Pt.2

Checked coil-over springs, front & rear.

Fronts seem to have coil ID = 2.175 ins., whereas rears measured @ slightly over 1.9 ins.

Front wire dia = 0.3875ins (9.8425 mm), rear wire dia = 8.6mm (0.3385ins).

Is it usual to have different coil spring ID, front-to-rear?

Rears to be changed. Need to be softer. And just to clarify, I bought these coil-overs from GTS - but quite a long time ago.

1.9" i.d, and 2.25" i.d are 2 common sizes for coilover style suspension. i would have thought it is the spring rate that matters more, and not the actual diameter of the springs? (as long as the correct diameter spring is fitted to the damper)

Noted your comments re spring IDs. For me, ID is most critical because I need to make sure spring will fit existing rear shock and spring pans.
