hard brake pedal
Hi ever since i finished my car the brakes have been hard it has vented discs on front with willwood and discs on english axle with willwood have
checked everything twice and more and cannot find any reason for it i have to stand on them to make them lock and i mean stand
any thoughts from the collective.

Without getting into detail on your setup, and assuming it;'s inherently OK this is pretty much what it feels like to have no servo as most cars
have these days I guess

Well mark has built 4 cars now and they all have a willwood fronts and bias pedal box and have great pedal feel and stopping power really progressive
i am old enough to have driven cars without servo and know what you mean its like there is a restriction but i have checked all the pipe work to see
if there was a nip just run out of things to do .

Check that the push rod into the master cylinder is not fouling the side of the bore I have seen this when the entry angle is too great due to the
pivot point one the pedal

Adjust the pivot point on the pedal for more leverage or smaller master cylinder required.

So it's twin cylinders and bias bar? What bore are the master cylinders?

Have checked for fouling and its ok have .7 on rear and 625 on front did think about lowering front

Pad friction material?
Also check the balance bar trunnions have some side clearance to allow the bar to pivot.
O.625 is really as small as you can go.

slide bar was to tight so i ream it to a good fit and greased it when i put it back together

Put some Mintex 1144's in. Smart pads are shite; hard, no feel, no effort unless (if) you get them very hot.

What is the pedal ratio (i.e. pivot to pedal divided by pivot to master cylinder)

I have the same issue and have willwoods all round too. I think the pedal set-up is causing my problems as it seems fairly crude and lacking leverage
on the cylinders. I'm thinking of fitting a complete new race pedal box set-up with a better pedal ratio. Maybe this could work for you too.

Take a caliper off leaving it plumbed in and press the pedal. If theres no resistance I would guess pads too.

I've now fitted a complete new obp pedal box and my brakes are transformed. I've got a .625 master cylinder for the front and .70 rear and
the pedal is still fairly firm but have loads more power and feel than I did with the original pedal set up. Since doing this I've changed to
some Ferodo pads as well and they are amazing, couldn't ask for better brakes now.
Have you got any further with yours Ali?
