English axle halfshafts runout.
How much runout is skimmable before these are scrap?
I have not got the dti out yet, but i would say there is about 1mm runout at the wheel on my car, and there is flutter noticable at the disc in 5th at
idle.
I'm pretty sure i have not kerbed my os rear wheel, but the local roads are full of potholes, so the shaft could be bent from one of those.
I thought that there would be noticable brake judder from this, but i have not noticed any at all.

Hi bud from what you are describing it does not sound like a bent half shaft. If you think about it, if it was bent then it would be noticeable from
low speeds and in any gear. I would first suspect wheel balance and then the half shaft bearing.

1mm run out in 5th at idle? How did you even come to be measuring this?
Unless you can feel shaking in the back when driving do as BT suggested... if it aint broke dont mess with it ! Get the wheel balanced again if your
that worried about 1mm but its unlikely to make any difference

I was fitting a hall sensor for my speedo pointing at the rear of the hub flange, and was spinning up the wheels to check the output was correct
through the output range.
I have not accurately measured the runout, but when i saw the wheel wobble i removed the wheel and nipped up the nuts, spun it up again and could
feel the surface of the disc fluttering.
The wheel bearing isn't noisy and has no play.

Remove the disc and make sure that there is not a build up of rust between the disc and the half shaft flange.
1mm at the disc outer is probably only 0.5mm on the flange. Within limits of being able to skim straight on a lathe.
