Hi Rob,
Do you mean an adaptor to make the bellhousing mate with the engine block or the pressed steel plate that keeps the crud from entering the exposed
lower half of the b/housing?
I used a 1600 sierra type 9 box and b/h from Ian Harwood the secondhand Escort specialist. The length of the g/box input shaft and its diameter (15mm
- I think) matched nicely with the spigot bearing in the crank. The bolt pattern matches. I'm told the 2.0 Sierra box needs a larger diameter
bearing, ant the input shaft can vary in length.
I bought the thrust bearing that matched the Sierra g/box donor. I didn't use the crud catcher plate, but found that the starter motor needed
it to align properly with the flywheel ring gear, so I cut out the relevant portion, and used it as a spacer just for the pre-engaged starter from the
x/flow. Everything has worked well for 2 summers except the 4 bellhousing/gearbox bolts worked loose, meaning an engine out job for a loctite/lock
washer/lock wire proceedure. They arn't coming out again.
Regards,
Mark

I've used the original x/flow plate and just cut away the offending area that wouldn't let the bolt holes match with the starter and
bellhousing

I used the plate from the car that the gearbox came from, the x flow plate needs cutting to fit around the starter area, suspect that all cars using
the type 9 as standard may ?? have the same sandwich plate. hope this helps, Rusty.
