Leaking bleed nipple

Hi Guys,

One of my front bleed nipples is leaking from the inner part, not thread, of the Sierra calipers.
Anyone else had this? Hoping its just the nipple its self.

Cheers,

No, but it could be the nipple, seat inside the caliper or maybe dirt stopping it sealing. Simple enough and cheap enough to replace the nipple and try again?

Their cheap as anything, less than perfect replace it. The taper is probably chewed up from over tightening. Autosave or buy them on the web, buy few spares.

Fitted new nipple. It " weeps " around the thread of the nipple.
Guess new caliper time.

It must be the tapered seat? Shouldn't be any fluid getting to the threads when it is tightened. Not sure if there is a seat refurb tool?

We Are dealing with Brakes so if you do the following it Is At Your Risk

On My Car I had the same problem after some caliper work.
I took a bleed nipple and filed a flat where the leaking taper is.
I dropped a ball bearing (4 to 5 mm dia) into the hole in the caliper and it will roll to the centre of the taper.
Install the 'flat bottom' nipple and tighten. the ball will make its own seating.
Bleed brakes as normal.

I had the same problem with my sierra calipers.

Not happy as they were bought "new"
Unfortunately I had them for 4 years before I found out they leaked so couldn't send them back

I used a small ball shaped grinding stone from my dremmel to "fettle" the seat the nipple screws up to
(By hand, not in the dremmel) just lightly spun it against the seat with my fingers.)

Seems to have worked.
