Sierra steering column
Anyone got a spare nylon plug that screws into the bottom of the column to keep the tension on the rack and pinion, There appears to be two types,
mine has not got the allen key for releasing it but the other type. Can they be got in alloy? Any place still sell them? David

Hmmm - no replies. Probably cos nobody knows what you're talking about Me included.
What nylon plug? Got a photo? Are you sure you have a Sierra column?

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Are you talking about the rack (goes at the front of the car) and not the column (bit with steering wheel attached)?
Using an escort rack - sorry can't help!

nylon screw.
Sorry if you did not understand . It is the nylon screw that holds the rack tensioner in place on the steering unit. Does this help. David

I've got one of these in my Escort rack too. It is a femail hex nylon screw, about 7/8" in diameter. I think this is rare, though,
because no one knew what i was talking about a few months ago.
My rack is from Westfield. Perhaps they can help.

Tension on rack.
Snoppy, how much tension or load do you put on the rack with the large plastic nut. I have turned up an alloy one which cures the trouble. By the
way for your information and the other lads on the forum the circlip supplied with the quickrack is about .5mm to thick for the grove. I opened the
grove up and everything is perfect. What do you recommend for steering stops on the rack. David
