Boll*x ive just made myself more work!

Image deleted by owner

I was having such a good morning annoying my neighbours with my grinder taking the brackets off my axle. Then i did this. A light tap on the handbrake bracket and it did this. Had no idea it was this thin!! Nothing that cant be solved when i weld my brackets on..

They do that alot. Rust to bits those back plates!

If it's that thin there it's probably not much better all over! Some of the Ford specialists will be able to sell you a replacement back plate to weld in, failing that you can us a good second hand one from something like a bent axle.

I wasted many hours a few years ago trying to repair one .... just no solid metal to weld to at all.

We did the same thing with ours

Cleaned it up and then welded a plate over it.

Hey, just 'cos someone else has done it doesn't mean you're not a tit

Best of luck (I had to weld it 3 times 'til it stopped leaking)

I've got a Mk2 Escort axle casing you can have. I'm in Lakenheath Suffolk.

If you cleaned it up well you could braze a new piece on. Would be so hot and risk blowing holes then!
