Final Drive Ratio
Can someone help me work out my diff ratio to calibrate my speedo.
Back axle is from a capri of unknown origin so I tried to work it out by turning the wheel one revolution and counting the number of turns on the
propshaft.
Came out at around 1.7 turns of the shaft to 1 turn of the wheel.
Based on figures from Mr G for the Sierra that seems low.
Do I multiply by 2 or something because only one wheel is turning?
Does anyone know what a capri axle is likely to be?
Also can I easly work out the gearbox ratios. Type 9 box is from a Sierra 1.6 but I have a similar 2.0l EFI Granada box as an option. I guess the
Granny box will be higher geared so the Sierra may be better but I would like to try and find out some info on both.

would be about 3.4 ratio that, better to do more revolutions to get it more accurate.

Thanks again guys. The link really did the trick. Obvious when you know how.
I had searched for a thread but not come up with that one.
For reference it turned out to be 31 turns to 18 which works out at 3.44. slightly more accuracte than my original 3.4.
Any ideas on the gearbox info??

My axle was from a 2.0S 'W' reg Capri and still had the 3.44:1 tag on it. Gear ratios are same for most T9 boxes. 1st 3.65:1, 2nd 1.97:1,
3rd 1.37:1, 4th 1.00:1, 5th 0.82:1. Reverse is 3.66:1. A taller 1st gear would be better.
