Hub refurbishment
I have noticed that in recent posts and in photo's that many of you have painted the wheel and brake disc mating faces of the hubs. Surely this
is bad engineering practise. Or am I wrong?

Yes its a bad idea as then the faces arent flat. thats why when i did mine i left them bare, save for a smear of preserving oil.

I painted mine after the discs had been bolted to the hubs as this is critical to avoid disc run out. I wasn't worried about the wheel mounting
face as this appears to be painted on most production cars.

no, you're not wrong. it is bad practice.
As davis said, it probablt won't really affect the wheel mounting but you definitely dont want paint under the brake disc.

Masked mine off, paint's not structral, or flat... And it's not painted on the car they came off....
