anyone using alloy GT track rod extensions?

is anyone driving round with the aluminium (alloy?) track rod extensions - GT ones?

Just want convincing that they are strong enough - somehow using al. alloy seems wrong to me.....

,,, and how long is the threaqded part (the bit that screws into the track rod end?)

They will be strong enough, depending on what alloy they are made of.

I'm using them...

Picture of them can be found ~HERE~

I had mine machined down a bit as a little too long for my escort quick rack.

I took about 3-4 centimetres off...

If you need any more pics - let me know - happy to supply them!

The threaded bit is long enough for the balljoint - perfect fit in fact! :-)

Muzchap,
Do you think you'll get enough bump steer with the rack positioned like that?

NOPE! I'm hoping for a little more

Nah - it's nowhere near finished or aligned!

The 'mushroom' inserts are wrong :-(

I copied a design I found on T'internet - it was out...

Once the mushies are sorted - I can wind the suspension up and get the steering rack and track end rods all lined up

what would be all lined up?

my attempt at mine would be to have the rod pointing forwards a bit and when viewed from the front, lie horizontal. (I willl need to move the rack rails for thatt )

Whatever rack position gives minimal bump steer I suspect.

Well I'm just going by my m8's car... he has a velocity and once the correct mushroom inserts are in - and the camber is sorted - everything kind of lines up on the track end rod.

Mine are a bit droopy at the moment!

I agree - pointing slightly forward is discussed as being the best.

I'm quite limited with mine - just move them back as far as possible - that should do...

Cheers,

M
