master cylinder drums/disks
Hi,
can anyone confirm if there is a physical difference in bore size etc between a master cylinder for a rear drum braked sierra and one from a rear disk
braked sierra?
I thought i would ask on here before resorting to my local ford employed trained chimp...............
who believe it or not did not know that there were lobro and non lobro driveshafts/diffs..............anything older than a 51 plate Mondeo and he was
stumped!

I don't know about the specific m/cyl' on the Sierra.
However, general practice is to make the stroke in the primary and secondary chambers different for a drumbrake rear to a disc brake rear.
Discs all round is usually a 50:50 stroke split.
Disc front, drum rear is 66:34 stroke split.
Basically the wheel cylinder in a drumbrake 'consumes' far less fluid than a caliper.
